NECK PAIN
What is it?
Neck pain is just that – pain in the neck. Pain can be localized to the cervical spine or may radiate down an arm (radiculopathy). About 10% of the population has an episode of neck pain each year. Neck pain may occur slightly more frequently in women than in men.
Causes
- Mechanical disorders associated with gradual changes associated with aging, or with overuse of the neck or arms
- A fall or accident (even as far back as childhood)
- A difficult birth
- Sustained physical activity such as sitting at computer terminals for prolonged periods of time
- Sleeping in an awkward position
- Osteoarthritis, Herniated inter vertebral discs, Spinal stenosis
- Whiplash and neck injury
Treatment
Chiropractic care realigns the vertebrae and removes stress from nerves. Many patients suffering from neck problems, including whiplash, have found chiropractic to be a blessing.
